Title Design I 2025
For this university project, I had complete creative freedom to design a title sequence for a fictional series of my own creation. I chose the psychological thriller genre and created "Smile": a dark story set in a 19th-century English orphanage, where smiling is forbidden and seen as a sign of rebellion. Twelve-year-old Eleanor and her friend Thomas uncover a terrifying secret hidden within the institution's walls, and Eleanor must fight to survive and expose the truth.
My process
I wanted the dark atmosphere to feel physical, not just visual. I printed and aged photographs of the characters and the orphanage, and created props like letters, name lists, and character profiles: all shot on camera and animated frame by frame, blending film and stop-motion techniques. The sequence is mostly black and white, broken only by red – appearing in bloodstains and stitched threads as a symbol of the threat running through the story.
